Conditional Sentence, If-clause Konu Anlatımı

Türkçe'deki karşılığı koşul cümleleri olan bu cümleler If-clause  (koşul cümlesi) ve main clause (ana cümle) şeklinde iki cümle ile oluşur.

Type - 1 : If  + present simple + will / won't
Type - 2 : If  + past simple      + would
Type - 3 : If  + past perfect     + would have V3
 

Type - 1

 

If I study, I will pass the exam.
Çalışırsam, Sınavı geçeceğim

If I study, I will not fail the exam.
Çalışırsam, Sınavda başarısız olmam.

If I do not study, I will fail the exam.
Çalışmazsam, Sınavda başarısız olurum.
 

Type - 2

 

If I studied, I would pass the exam.
Çalışsaydım, Sınavı geçerdim.

If I studied, I would not fail the exam.
Çalışsaydım, Sınavdan başarısız olmazdım.

If I did not study, I would fail the exam.
Çalışmazsam, Sınavda başarısız olurum.

İf clause'da I/he/she/it'den sonra was yerine genellikle were kullanılır.
İf I were you, I would stop smoking.
Senin yerinde olsaydım, sigara içmeyi bırakırdım.

İf I were you, I would take the money.
Senin yerinde olsaydım parayı alırdım.

 

Type - 3

Geçmişte gerçek olmaya, kurgusal koşullar için anlatılır.

 

If I had studied, I would have passed the exam.
Çalışsaydım, Sınavı geçerdim.

If I had studied, I would not have failed the exam.
Çalışsaydım, Sınavdan başarısız olmazdım.

If I had not studied, I would have failed the exam.
Çalışmazsam, Sınavda başarısız olurum.
